Double Coated Power Cable
Description
Technical Parameters

A double-coated power cable refers to a type of electrical cable that has two layers of insulation coating surrounding the conductive core. This design provides additional protection and insulation for the power cable, enhancing its durability and safety in various applications.
The construction of a double-coated power cable typically consists of the following layers:
Conductor: The core of the cable is typically made of copper or aluminum and is responsible for carrying the electrical current. The conductor is usually stranded to enhance flexibility.
First Insulation Layer: The first insulation layer, also known as primary insulation, is directly applied over the conductor. It provides electrical insulation to prevent current leakage and short circuits. Common insulation materials used include cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or ethylene propylene rubber (EPR), depending on the specific application requirements.
Second Insulation Layer: The second insulation layer, also known as the outer jacket or sheath, is applied over the primary insulation. It provides additional mechanical protection and safeguards the cable against environmental factors such as moisture, abrasion, chemicals, and UV radiation. The material used for the outer jacket can be polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), or other suitable thermoplastic or thermosetting materials.
