A copper thermocouple flame sensor is a type of flame sensor commonly used in gas-fired appliances, such as furnaces and boilers. It is responsible for detecting the presence of a flame and ensuring the safe operation of the appliance.
The copper thermocouple flame sensor consists of a copper wire or rod that is placed in the path of the flame. When the flame is present, the copper material absorbs the heat and generates a small electrical voltage. This voltage signal is then used to confirm the presence of the flame.
The generated voltage is typically connected to a control system or gas valve. As long as the flame is detected and the voltage is within the expected range, the control system allows the appliance to continue operating and supplying gas for combustion.
